RotoGrip
About Us
Roto Grip Company
Roto Grip has been around since the late 1960's. It was based out of New York and run by the Yetito family. The balls were unique in the fact that they were pre-weighted with finger-weight and side weight, and then marked with a 4 point star. The idea was that you just drill right over the four point star and you would not have to scale the ball on a dodo scale. It was quite unique. The most famous of these balls was the Blue Polyester Roto Grip that was very comparable to the Columbia Yellow Dot of the late 1970's and early 1980's. This was a highly sought after brand for many years because of its High Quality High Performance line of equipment. As technology changed in the bowling industry with the introduction of new coverstocks and unique core designs things also changed for Roto Grip. Since they outsourced the production of their bowling balls to other manufacturers it became difficult for them to get the best technology from these manufacturers; therefore slowing the rise of the Roto Grip name. In the early 1990's Roto Grip moved their operation to Florida in hopes of a new beginning. They made a few more balls, but the success they had seen in the 70's and 80's was slowing.
An Industry Innovator
In 1998 Storm Products purchased the brand name from the Yetito family. Since 1998 Storm has manufactured the balls for Roto Grip, the first being the SD-73 ("The Ball Banned from the PBA Tour"). From 1998 to 2001 Roto Grip's main focus had been on the overseas market with a few domestic releases each year. In 2001 they hired Hank Boomershine as the Brand Manager and Head of Research and Development. His main focus was on the resurgence of the Roto Grip name into the domestic marketplace and the continued push in to the international market. At that time he hired Tommy DeLutz Jr., and Brian LeClair to represent Roto Grip on the PBA National Tour, and Tammy Turner on the PWBA National Tour. In the fall of 2001 we saw this pay off with Tommy winning the PBA Long Island Open. Since that time we have had several tournament victories worldwide from our now growing Amateur and Professional Staff.
In 2002 we put in place an Eastern Region Sales Manger; Dan Smith and also added Roger Noordhoek as the Office Manager. Hank Boomershine was also elevated to President of the company. As Roto Grip continues into the new Millenium we strive to stay ahead of the rest with Cutting Edge Technology and superb Customer Service.
